The incident took place around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when three officers were attempting to remove an unidentified man from a white Dodge Challenger when he sped off dragging the two officers who were on the driver's side of the vehicle, Harris said.
"This could have been much worse," Harris said. "Thankfully, the officers were able to let go after being dragged for a short distance."
The driver, who is described as being a former Marine who was heavily armed and considered very dangerous, was stopped in the area of Jewett Avenue and Main Street, with stolen license plates on the vehicle, Harris said.
"We can't release much information at this time, but he is wanted," Harris said referring to the driver.
The two police officers were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where they were treated and released.
